Below we explain the different diplomas or certificates you can obtain at Instituto Hispánico once you complete your Spanish course.
At our school, we know that learning Spanish is a personal, professional, and academic investment. That’s why we offer personalized and useful certificates, designed to help you move forward with confidence.
Our certificates are aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), an internationally recognized tool that allows for a clear and precise description of your language proficiency. But first, a few important details:
Our history
Instituto Hispánico de Murcia was founded in the year 2000 with a clear vision: to offer high-quality Spanish teaching in a friendly, professional environment, 100% focused on international students. Since then, we have taught thousands of people from more than 35 countries.
We are the only school in the city of Murcia exclusively specialized in teaching Spanish as a foreign language, which allows us to fully dedicate ourselves to what we do best.
Our growth has been constant, but we have always maintained a family-like and international structure where every student matters. In addition, we have established partnerships with universities, embassies, and educational agencies around the world, consolidating our status as a regional leader in Spanish language teaching.
What is the CEFR?
The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an international standard developed by the Council of Europe to measure and describe language learners’ proficiency levels.
It establishes six proficiency levels:
- A1 and A2: Basic user
- B1 and B2: Independent user
- C1 and C2: Proficient user
This framework allows for the comparison of language learning and certification across different countries and contexts. All our courses and evaluations are based on these levels, ensuring transparency, consistency, and international recognition.

Academic content: A comprehensive evaluation of your language skills (comprehension, expression, interaction), with a reference to the estimated level achieved (from A1 to C2).
Advantages:
- Helps guide you before taking an official exam.
- Allows you to understand your real progress in the language.
- Can be useful for personal, internal, or informal educational purposes, but does not replace an official certification.
What is the Instituto Cervantes?
The Instituto Cervantes is a public institution created in 1991 by the Spanish Government to promote the teaching, study, and use of Spanish worldwide.
With a presence in more than 90 cities across 45 countries, the Instituto Cervantes is the official body responsible for the DELE and SIELE exams and serves as the authority in Spanish language certification.
Studying at a center that follows its standards, like Instituto Hispánico de Murcia, guarantees quality, continuous updates, and internationally recognized teaching.
What is the DELE?
The DELE (Diploma of Spanish as a Foreign Language) is an official diploma granted by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Spanish Ministry of Education. It is intended for students and professionals who need to certify their level of Spanish for:
- Academic purposes (university admission, accreditation)
- Employment (enhancing professional profiles)
- Legal procedures (Spanish nationality applications)
The DELE certificate does not expire, and it assesses reading, writing, listening comprehension, and oral expression, categorized by levels (A1 to C2).
What is the SIELE?
The SIELE (International Spanish Language Evaluation Service) is a modern alternative to the DELE. It is also endorsed by the Instituto Cervantes and other prestigious institutions such as UNAM, the University of Salamanca, and the Caro and Cuervo Institute.
Features of SIELE:
- Fully digital
- Results in less than three weeks
- Evaluates all skills or allows selection of specific ones
