What can you work as with a vocational qualification in IT?

IT is one of the sectors with the most job opportunities. Companies value what you can actually do, and vocational training prepares you to build real projects and to apply for jobs from the very start of your career.

Web programmer

The difference is simple: Web Application Development (DAW) focuses on web applications that run in a browser, while Cross-Platform Application Development (DAM) is aimed at developing applications for computers and mobile devices. The two programmes share a large part of their content.

Before you choose

Here everything is advanced level: what that means for you

There is no level to choose. The IT programmes are advanced-level, so you enter with officially recognised Bachillerato (upper secondary education) or an equivalent. And if you do not have it, you are not left out either.

The route is direct

With your Bachillerato officially recognised in Spain you can go straight into the programme, with no entrance exam. As the recognition process can take several months, it is advisable to start it as early as possible.

You do not have it

You can get in through an intermediate-level programme

If you do not meet the requirements to enter an advanced-level programme directly, you can start with an intermediate-level programme. Once you finish it and obtain the Technician qualification, you will be able to move on to an advanced-level programme without having to sit an entrance exam. It is a longer route, but it is an official one and very common.

Starting from scratch

And what if you do not speak Spanish yet?

That is not a problem. You do not need to know Spanish to join the programme. You will start with a six-month intensive course at our school in Murcia, accredited by the Instituto Cervantes, where you will go from a beginner level up to B1.2–B2.1. After that you will start your vocational training programme.

Although much of the code and the technical documentation is in English, the classes, the projects, the work placements in companies and the working environment are in Spanish. That is why it is essential to learn the language before starting the vocational programme.

In IT, what companies value above all is what you can actually do. Spanish matters for studying, for your work placements and for working in Spain, but your technical skills are what carry the most weight.

What is more, the official qualification is valid throughout the European Union and the sector offers many job opportunities, both on site and remotely.

BEFORE YOU START

Spanish and the visa

These are the two steps before the programme. We take care of both of them with you.

STEP 1

Six months of Spanish

The programmes are taught in Spanish, with Spanish classmates and teachers. That is why the programme starts with the language: six months of intensive course at our school in Murcia, accredited by the Instituto Cervantes, from zero up to the level you need in order to follow a vocational programme, with an exam at the end.

If you already have a certified DELE B2, you skip this stage and go straight into the programme.

STEP 2

Student visa

Being enrolled at a school accredited by the Instituto Cervantes allows you to apply for the visa. The language is not only a language: it is the key to the paperwork.

We guide you through the documents — letter of admission, enrolment and health insurance — the areas where most applications are refused because the paperwork was badly prepared.

If you come from the EU, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland or Liechtenstein, you do not need a visa.

We offer an optional external professional service that handles the whole application for you. It is voluntary: you can do it yourself or request this service.

What you ask us most about IT

Do I need to know how to program before I start?

No. The programmes are designed to start from scratch, so no previous knowledge is needed. If you have programmed before, you will simply find it easier to keep up during the first year.

Can I get in without Bachillerato?

Not directly, because both programmes are advanced-level. In that case, you can start with an intermediate-level programme and, once you obtain the Technician qualification, move on afterwards to the advanced level without sitting an entrance exam.

What language are the classes in?

Classes are in Spanish. Although programming languages and much of the technical documentation are in English, the classes, the projects and the work placements are in Spanish. That is why the programme starts with a six-month intensive Spanish course.

Are there work placements in real companies?

Yes. Work placements in companies are included in the programme and they are often the way in to a job once you finish your vocational training.

You learn through immersion and in small groups, in a city where living costs little and you practise Spanish from day one.
