This course, crafted by Professor José Luis Vega from the University of Salamanca, spans 155 hours. It incorporates 35 hours of theoretical content and 120 hours of hands-on practice with actual Spanish international students.

The 35 theory hours offer flexibility, allowing you to complete them at your own pace from the comfort of your home. Throughout the 120 hours of practical experience, you’ll engage in observations under the guidance of a personal teacher or tutor.

There are many ELE teacher courses out there, but “few incorporate a practical component as vital and beneficial as this one…“.

This sentiment is shared by 263 students who have completed the course to date, including Susana G. P., who remarked:

"It has been a very positive experience and I am delighted to have done the course. To follow the progress of the classes and to have the opportunity to teach the classes myself afterwards is a great opportunity. Thank you!"

FAQ about the Spanish teacher training course

The first Monday of each month throughout the year.

Of course, although many concepts that appear in the theoretical part may be unfamiliar and difficult to understand. However, university studies are required for enrolment in this course.

The practical part of the course consists of 120 hours, so we recommend enrolling in one of our intensive Spanish language programmes, which include 20 lessons per week, from Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM. This way, you can complete the course in six weeks.

If your schedule doesn’t allow for this, we can explore other options, but the intensive course is the most recommended to avoid extending the duration of your studies. Please note that afternoon classes may not always be available, particularly during the summer.

We will email you the course materials and the assessment. Once you have completed the questions, please return the evaluation to us. You can submit it either as a Word document or a PDF.

Feel free to proceed as you prefer. We just request that you inform us in writing about the estimated time you’ll need to complete the evaluation. Remember, you can work on this from home or any place that suits you, and you don’t need an internet connection to do it.

No, it is an introductory course in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.

We don’t teach you grammar, we teach you how to teach it – even if it sounds like a tongue twister.

As soon as you send us the evaluation, we can begin coordinating your availability with our course schedules to set a date. We prefer to arrange it as soon as possible after you complete the theoretical portion and submit the corrected evaluation, with no gaps and a firm commitment to meet the deadlines. However, we cannot establish a specific date until the time approaches.

By “no gaps,” we mean that it would be impractical to have, for instance, a week of practical training followed by several days off, then another week, and so on.

It’s crucial to remember that you’ll be part of a group class, and dividing your practical training into separate weeks or days is neither logical nor pedagogically sound. If you need to finish your practical training quickly, please inform us when you enroll so we can accommodate your needs.

Primarily in the morning, but afternoons are also an option, though not guaranteed; it depends on course availability.

As mentioned before, we generally recommend morning sessions from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday through Friday, but other options might be available.

No, simply notify us in writing so we can take it into consideration. However, if more than THREE MONTHS pass between receiving the evaluation and finishing the internship without any communication from you, your course will be cancelled for obvious reasons.

We consider this to be ample time to report any issues.

Not at all; we have teachers who haven’t taken this course. However, we want to remind you that we maintain a job pool for future hiring, which includes individuals who have successfully completed the course. These candidates are considered for expanding our team or replacing current teachers.

We always strive to have experienced professionals on our team.

Certainly, the course will be beneficial for you, but we must be honest and not promise that you’ll secure a job immediately after completing it. The course includes a significant practical component that will be crucial for your development as a teacher and will enhance your job search.

Our course stands out in the market because of its strong practical focus. You’ll gain experience working with international Spanish students, which will be highly regarded by potential employers.

Instituto Hispánico de Murcia is a private entity and has no affiliation with public education. Additionally, since our courses are not organized or provided by Instituto Cervantes, they are not endorsed by it. Therefore, the answer is no.

However, it’s important to note that our qualifications hold the same value as those from any other private institution, both nationally and internationally. The diplomas and certificates issued for our courses are acknowledged by a wide range of institutions.
